Our Cause – “United Against Poverty”
The financial crisis in 2008 caused a domino effect of joblessness, poverty and hunger across the United States. By 2010 14.5 percent of U.S. households were food insecure and people living in poverty also increased to a staggering 46.2 million. These numbers are expected to rise despite the current economic recovery. Poverty knows neither race nor creed as people are experiencing homelessness and unemployment for the same reasons across states. It is difficult to decipher what factors that have led to such dire circumstances however the reality is that the problems of hunger and poverty are multidimensional. Whatever the problem, be it poor education, operation of political and economic system, health problems or lack of well paying jobs in the community, they are too large for one sector to handle on its own. As its contribution to resolve these crises, United for Change (UFC) has partnered with Masjid Al Islam to spearhead the effort to find resolutions to this much prevalent social problem. Please help us achieve our goal by your generous contributions.
Your financial support will help Masjid Al Islam and UFC in making this event a great success and pave the path for future activities as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Whosever initiates a virtuous legacy, then he will have the reward for it (the ongoing benefit that this legacy provides indefinitely)”. Additionally, our conference will be an excellent opportunity to generate interest in your organization globally.
